Gail brings her experiences as a teaching principal, a language adviser and a writer to her coaching and mentoring. Gail works with the whole school mentoring teachers and the school’s literacy leaders to seed competency and a love of writing throughout the school.
For many years Gail has offered intensive workshops for individual teachers to improve their own writing skills. None of us would go to someone who couldn’t play the piano to learn the piano, yet many of us who are teachers are not writers. We do not possess the specific knowledge required to lead children to authorship. These courses have been immensely valuable in assisting teachers achieve across-the-class success in writing, boys and all. In 2010 Gail wrote I’ve Got something to Say: Leading Young Writers to Authorship with Sally Muir. It is a journey-map for teachers (and parents) to assist their young writers to creative and competent authorship. |
